Eid Away From Home | The Expat Experience

Eid is right around the corner. 🌙

And while many of us gear up for the usual celebrations, there are those of us abroad, away from home, who face a very different reality. Those for whom Eid looks something like this:

Wake up > shower > namaz > home > eat > sleep.

Some of us head straight to work or school, with the day slipping by in a blur of meetings, emails, and deadlines.

The words "Eid Mubarak" barely slip our lips during the day. There’s no rush of excitement, no bustling crowds, no shared laughter with loved ones. It often feels like just another day.

It can feel quiet, almost distant, and alone.

But does Eid really have to be this way?

What if this Eid could be different?
What if it was an opportunity to celebrate ourselves?
To acknowledge our ambition...
Our perseverance...
Our patience...
And all the sacrifices we’ve made throughout the year?

What if we took the day off - not to catch up on work, but to celebrate ourselves?

Planning an itinerary of all the things we love.

Maybe a quiet coffee date with ourselves. ☕

A visit to a local park or museum. 🌼

Trying a new place we’ve been wanting to explore. ✨

Perhaps making sheer khurma for the first time? 🍚

Calling loved ones back home, sharing stories and laughs. 💗

Shayad Eid akele vesi Eid nahi lagti,
Lekin aakhir Eid hai toh sahi.
Apnay liyay he sahi?

This Eid, Manto would like to remind us – as we find ourselves scattered across the globe, away from home, Eid is not just about the place we’re in but the spirit we carry within us. It’s about celebrating the strength, patience, and resilience that we’ve shown in our journeys - wherever they may take us. 💫

So, let’s celebrate ourselves, our unique paths, and the beauty in how far we’ve come, no matter where we are ❤️

Wishing you all a very happy Eid Mubarak!
