کیا ہے ترک دنیا کاہلی سے
Kiya hai tark-e-duniya kaahili se

ہمیں حاصل نہیں بے حاصلی سے
Humein haasil nahin be-haasili se

خراجِ دیہہِ ویراں یک کفِ خاک
Khiraaj-e-deh-e-veeraan yak kaf-e-khaak

بیاباں خوش ہوں تیری عاملی سے
Bayaabaan khush hoon teri aamili se

پر افشاں ہو گئے شعلے ہزاروں
Par-afshaan ho gaye sholay hazaaron

رہے ہم داغ اپنی کاہلی سے
Rahe hum daagh apni kaahili se

Translation:

I have withdrawn from the world out of idleness, yet gained nothing from having nothing.
The tribute of a ruined land is no more than a handful of dust; O wilderness, I am content with your dominion.
A thousand flames spread their wings and rose, while I remained behind, marked by the regret of my own inaction.
