An Ode to Allama Iqbal
جنہیں میں ڈھونڈھتا تھا آسمانوں میں زمینوں میں
Jinhein main dhoondhta tha aasmaanon mein zameenon mein
وہ نکلے میرے ظلمت خانۂ دل کے مکینوں میں
Woh niklay mere zulmat-khaana-e-dil ke makeenon mein
حقیقت اپنی آنکھوں پر نمایاں جب ہوئی اپنی
Haqeeqat apni aankhon par numayaan jab hui apni
مکاں نکلا ہمارے خانۂ دل کے مکینوں میں
Makaan nikla hamaare khaana-e-dil ke makeenon mein
Translation:
Those I searched for in the skies and across the earth,
I found them dwelling within the dark chambers of my own heart.
When my true reality became clear before my eyes,
I realized that my home was among the inhabitants of my heart
