An Ode to Mir Taqi Mir

پھول گل شمس و قمر سارے ہی تھے
Phool, gul, shams-o-qamar saare hi the

پر ہمیں ان میں تمہیں بھائے بہت
Par humein un mein tum hi bhaaye bohat

Translation:
There were flowers, blossoms, the sun and the moon, all of them beautiful;
But among them, it was you whom my heart cherished the most.
