An Ode to Saghar Nizami

گل اپنے غنچے اپنے گلستاں اپنا بہار اپنی
(Gul apne, ghunche apne, gulistān apnā, bahār apnī)

گوارا کیوں چمن میں رہ کے ظلم باغباں کر لیں
(Gawāra kyun chaman mein reh ke zulm bāghbān kar lein)

Translation:

The flowers are ours, the buds are ours, the garden is ours, the spring our own,
Why then, while living in this garden, should we tolerate the gardener’s cruelty?
