راتوں کو چلنے والے رہ جائیں تھک کے جس دم
Raaton ko chalne waale reh jaayen thak ke jis dam

امید ان کی میرا ٹوٹا ہوا دیا ہو
Umeed un ki mera toota hua diya ho

پچھلے پہر کی کوئل وہ صبح کی موذن
Pichhle pehar ki koyal woh subah ki moazzin

میں اس کا ہم نوا ہوں وہ میری ہم نوا ہو
Main us ka ham-nawa hoon, woh meri ham-nawa ho

Translation:

When those who travel through the nights grow weary and pause
May my broken lamp become their hope
She is the night’s cuckoo, the morning’s caller to prayer
I am her companion in voice, and she is mine
